A momentous evening in Appenzel 23rd Nov 2009
I never expected to be made to feel so very special.
This was an evening of fun, light heartedness, warmth and learning and experiencing the new. Both, Jorge and I, were invited by a prominent Swiss couple in Appenzel, a beautiful canton in Eastern Switzerland.

After a 1.5 hour drive from home, we entered a beautiful bungalow built in the 19th century. This had been converted into our host's of

Where are we running, yaar (my friend)? 17th Aug 2009
Ever since I have lived outside, especially in a quiet country like Switzerland, I return to India feeling like my people are for ever in some kind of hurry!

It is funny how as soon as we land, we start getting up, reaching out for our bags in the most uncomfortable and dangerous way possible, as if a fire alarm has rung simultaneously in all our heads. Repeated attempts to tell us to sit just d

My first 'Project Pedal'- a 56 km bike journey 9th Aug 2009
In fact, I had never been on a bike till a couple of months ago. Well, that's if you discount a couple of rounds at August Kranti Maidan (ground) in Mumbai as a child. After that I either did not get the chance and moreso, never really thought about the sport of riding a bike and having fun with it.

I must say that Jorge was a big reason for me having attained this defining moment in my life. I c

Spring in the heart, or just TGIF?! 8th Aug 2009
Don't you just love it when happiness just surges through your body? When you are so 'up there' that you just don't want to let the feeling go?
I felt like this yesterday evening and would just like to describe it to you today. It was a feeling of satisfaction after a week's work, that I have achieved a peace to enjoy. I guess this comes only when one is feeling that most of the things in life ar

Writing a case study 21st Jul 2009
I never thought that I would actually get down to writing a business case, but the subject motivated me to do so. I just finished writing a case on a South African friend of mine of Indian origin, who made huge leaps of success in business in spite of the apartheid environment in his country.

It was an interesting experience, right from hearing and recording his intriguing story on video, till

Journey of self discovery 6th Jun 2009
Recently, I realised that happiness is related so much to self-discovery. The more I try to understand and accept myself, the more I can steer myself to choose options that would keep me happy.
Recently, I visited family in UK. It was an amazing experience to meet parts of myself through my family. It also helped me to even better understand my mom through her brothers, through a more objective

To be good to yourself 6th Apr 2009
Its been since a couple of days that I have been thinking that it is so important to keep fun on one's to-do list! That is one of the best ways to celebrate oneself.

I know that I denied this to myself for a long long time, thinking that ultimately there will be an award for this type of living. Instead, the result was that I went deeper into denial mode and lost track of the true meaning i

Of Spanish valleys and Bully fan clubs 2nd Jan 2009
Together with recovering from huge work pressures,Jorge and I enjoyed one of my finest end-of-year holiday with a 5000km road-trip between Switzerland, France and Spain.
I must've gained a couple of kilos through the delicious Tortillas, Batatas Bravas, various types of Jamon, my absolute fav lomo and of course, the Turron to top it all!
But the hospitality didn't end there.I was taken

Durban- Largest Mini India in the world! 7th Oct 2008
'You can take an Indian out of India, but you can never take India out of an Indian!'
This may not be an expected opening line to describe the fun-filled trip I had meeting and making friends in Durban and Jo'burg. On the other hand, this is the underlying thought I had, as I mingled with the 5th generation Indians in Durban. It was interesting to see how excited they still were to k

Housewarming and launch of Sameeksha 10th Sep 2008
Jorge and I managed to bring 25 people of 14 nationalities, speaking around 20 languages, to a boat cruise around the beautiful lake of Zurich. I was quite exhausted after 3 weeks in Dubai, yet I got immense joy seeing all our friends, who had come to wish us well on our personal and professional future together.

The best part, of course, was the food! We had delicious tapas, I very much liked

The opportunities in UAE 6th Aug 2008
I heard a lot about how UAE has been over the year that I was no longer residing in the place. Some of the comments were positive some otherwise. Today, on spending almost 2 weeks here, I am amazed at the level of entrepreneurship that this place encourages! Sometimes, I feel that I really need a break just to digest all the excitement. Businesses are being bought, new projects are being sought fr

Back in Dubai 25th Jul 2008
It is nice to be back in Dubai after a year. I had lived here for 4 years, and rediscover the place with the new life that I now enjoy, post my MBA.

I never realised how beautiful the Creek looked. It is interesting for me to be now staying across another water body, v/s the Zurich lake, even though it is in a hotel that I am living in at present.

Also, I feel nice about working amongst lot

The Euro 2008 festival 30th Jun 2008
Euro 2008 was my first attempt at looking at 22 people running around a grass field between two square posts. I never thought that it would mean so much fun!

This was my first experience with a sports festival. Zurich had a lovely Fan Zone which gave a good electricity to the ambience, come rain or shine in June. I must've been there at least thrice during this month, each time with my part

Khuda Ke Liye..a must-watch 23rd May 2008
I must say that the best part of the film was when one of the music lovers in the film introduces a Pakistani tune to his classmates in a Music School at Chicago. All of them had never heard those beats before, but as soon as it was played, they couldn't help swaying to the tune and adding their own rhythms based on their own musical origins.

It made me think of the power of music, in fact

A friend who amazes me 22nd May 2008
The first time I met Liliane Moschin was on a train as I was travelling to Lausanne from Zurich. We sat across each other, and just started talking about the multi-cultural people who are increasingly are a part of Switzerland.

What amazed me first about her was her depth of knowledge on the politics of her country. This is when I came to understand that she is a journalist. She spoke vividly a

Coming home to Mumbai 6th May 2008
It is so nice to be back home! The smells, the people, the elevator in my building! And of course, meeting old friends and new. And of course, finally satiating my appetite for bhelpuri and Bollywood!

The most beautiful part of this time's homecoming trip is that I am accompanied by Jorge, my partner. It is great to rediscover my own city through him. It has been since many days th

Vevey and 'The Secret' 30th Apr 2008
Today I write from Vevey, a beautiful, small town in Switzerland, which happens to be the seat of the Head Office of the multinational giant, Nestlé.

I came here to visit a friend as well as speak to her about one of the divisions of my company. After we finished the business part, she handed over a DVD of 'The Secret', a film that I have been meaning to watch since a very long time, an

What a week! 25th Apr 2008
I write this blog just after I left my good friend and first client at the airport.

It was an absolutely fun-filled, productive and eye-opening experience to be with my client, a South African of Indian origin, who started business at the age of 15, and has grown to be a multi-millionaire today.

I truly believe that what you ask is what gets manifested in your life. I met this friend of mine

A great party! 24th Apr 2008
I have just been busy with clients coming down and providing me with opportunities. Today was my first day back to my personal sites, and so I thought of sharing my first successful party that I organised at home last Saturday.

We were totally 7 of us.. Chilean, Serbian, Swiss, Indian and Spanish nationalities. I cooked a huge amount of Vegetable Biryani and prepared Cucumber Raita to go with i

The Europapark weekend 15th Apr 2008
It is surely nice to be a kid again! That is how I felt when I visited Europapark last weekend!

I remembered the days when my mother took me to Disneyworld, Orlando. The roller coaster rides, the water gushing down, the small areas representing different parts of Europe..it surely was a refreshing experience!

And the good thing was that my pug, Bully, was allowed too! Though it was sad that

A productive week 11th Apr 2008
Isn't it geat to have a productive week even in the midst of rainy weather?

That is what I felt that I had this week. Each day I learnt something new, which helped me take a step forward towards my goals, both personally and professionally.

Also, I must add that the beauty of working in Switzerland is that you feel that you are working in a vacation spot. As I was travelling to Western S

My boyfriend was so happy to introd

Health is Wealth... 3rd Apr 2008
It seems like such a cliche to say this, but I truly feel blessed when I found out that a dear friend of mine has developed a life-threatening disease.

This is when one starts understanding how simple yet important it is to remain healthy. Of course, one can get life-threatening illnesses even if one takes the utmost care to remain healthy. But then at least one will not blame oneself for not t

Attending networking events in Zurich 1st Apr 2008
There is so much opportunity here to interact with local and expatriate people in the community.

Today, I attended my first SAMBA (Swiss Association for MBAs) in one of the very beautiful guild houses in Zuerich. There I heard the CEO of Nestle, Mr. Peter Brabeck speak about the acute problem of water scarcity in the world and how important it is to price water, like oil, for otherwise people d
